PDF Sign & Fill fills in and signs PDF documents on Android. It is published by ByteHaven Studios LLC. This policy describes what the app does with your information. It is short because the app does very little with it.
The short version
PDF Sign & Fill never sends your documents, signatures or details anywhere. It has no account system, no analytics and no advertising, and it works without a connection. It goes online only for four things: Google Play handling the optional Pro purchase, Google Play's "rate this app" sheet, a feedback message you choose to send us, and downloading blank IRS forms and updates to the forms list.
Your documents
When you open a PDF (from the file picker, "Open with" or "Share"), PDF Sign & Fill copies it into the app's private storage on your phone and works on that copy. Your original file is never changed. What you type into form fields and what you place on pages (signatures, initials, text, dates, check marks) is saved there too, so an unfinished document is still there when you come back. Photos you turn into a PDF are picked one by one with Android's photo picker; the app does not ask for access to your photo library.
No other app can read the app's private storage, and uninstalling the app deletes it. Settings → Delete all documents removes every document and draft at any time.
Your signatures
Signatures and initials you draw or type are saved as images in the app's private storage, so you can reuse them. They never leave your phone unless they are part of a document you save or share yourself. Settings → Delete all signatures erases them.
A signature placed with PDF Sign & Fill is an image of your signature on a copy of the document, for paperwork you sign and send back. It is not a certificate-based signature.
Network access
Nothing in PDF Sign & Fill uploads your documents, signatures or details. The INTERNET and network-state permissions are there for:
- Google Play Billing, the library that sells the optional Pro unlock. When you buy or restore Pro, Google Play handles the payment under Google's own privacy policy; we receive no payment details. The library also reports to Google whether its own calls worked (technical diagnostics, under Google's policy). While a payment is pending, a background check asks Google Play whether it has cleared (it also runs after a restart, hence the "run at startup" permission) and stops once it has.
- Google Play In-App Review: after a few finished documents the app may ask Google Play to show its rating sheet. Google decides whether it appears and handles any rating under its own policy; the app is not told whether you rated.
- Send feedback (Settings), only when you press Send. See "When data leaves your device".
- Blank forms: most IRS forms in the forms list are downloaded from irs.gov the first time you open one, and the app may check our server for an updated forms list at most once a day. These are plain downloads of public files: nothing about you or your documents goes with them.
- It declares no storage, camera, location or contacts permission. Besides the billing ones, the only permissions it declares are
USE_BIOMETRICandUSE_FINGERPRINT, which the optional app lock needs (see below).
App lock
If you turn on the app lock, Android asks for your fingerprint, face or screen lock when the app opens. Android checks it and tells PDF Sign & Fill only whether it succeeded; the app never sees or stores any biometric data.
Backups and moving to a new phone
- No cloud backup. PDF Sign & Fill is excluded from Android's automatic backup to your Google account.
- No phone-to-phone transfer. On Android 12 and newer, the app's documents and signatures are also excluded from Android's device-to-device transfer. On older versions the app opts out of backup entirely. Your files stay on this phone; save or share the ones you want to keep elsewhere.
When data leaves your device
Only when you send it:
- Save as… writes the signed PDF where you choose, through Android's standard file picker. Share hands that one file to the app you pick, with a one-time permission to read it.
- Contact support opens your own email app with a message to support@bytehavenstudios.com, with the app version, build number, Android version and device model already written in it. Nothing is sent unless you press send, and you can see everything before you do.
- Send feedback sends the studio what you type, the kind you pick (idea, problem…) and, only if you fill it in, an email address for our reply, together with the app version, Android version, phone model and language. It goes over an encrypted connection to ByteHaven Studios' own support system; never with a document, signature or detail. We use it only to read and answer it, keep it no longer than that needs, and delete it when you ask.
- Buy or restore Pro opens Google Play's own purchase screen. Google handles the payment and tells the app only whether Pro is owned.
Apps you save to or share with are separate apps with their own policies.
Children
PDF Sign & Fill is a document tool for adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Your rights
We hold none of your documents or signatures. You can delete them in the app, or everything by uninstalling it. If you email us or send feedback, we keep that conversation only to answer you, and you can ask us at support@bytehavenstudios.com to see or delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted at https://pdfsign.bytehavenstudios.com/privacy/ with a new effective date.
